Coping over Coffee

Project description

'Coping over coffee’ is a common project between DBYN and Don Bosco Green Alliance to provide support to young people affected by the 2020 lockdown.

What?

Having a 40-45 minutes chat with a group of interested people that would like to stay in touch and be able to share a moment together, to give their tips and tricks on how to deal with the current lockdown situation or to just talk about something else.
Something to highlight: participants of the group could share personal information, we will remind everyone at the beginning that what is shared inside the group stays between the members of the group in order for everyone to feel comfortable enough to talk.
However, if someone inside the group is having a tougher time, we are welcome to check in with them if they agree.
This is a joint project between Don Bosco Green Alliance (DBGA) and Don Bosco Youth-Net (DBYN) but the concept can be freely used/adapted by other organisations and groups.

When?

Friday afternoon at 14:00 CET (18:30 for Mumbai)

Who?

A group of max. 8 people including 1 animator/facilitator in order to be sure that everyone has the opportunity to talk and share. More would be difficult in an online meeting.
The first meeting would be on Friday 27th March 2020. The members of the original group will be asked to provide feedback to improve the concept for the other times.
Afterwards, several groups can be meeting at the same time as long as there are enough facilitators. If there are enough participants, we can also think of doing language groups.

Why?

Because we know that this confinement/lockdown situation can be difficult for the people facing it. There might be anxiety, fear, a lack of social contact and this can have a toll on the mental health of the people, especially if they are confined on their own.
By offering a weekly time where people can meet online and share together, we aim to counterbalance this and to be sure that no one feels left out and on its own.

How?

We will provide a questionnaire that interested people can complete. We will ask them for their name, their preferred language (in addition to English) and their email address for us to be able to contact them.
An additional question would be if they would be interested in being a facilitator (should we have enough people to start a group more).
Once the group has been finalised, the facilitator will be contacted and they will send their group an email with a Zoom invitation (or other depending on the tool chosen).
We will be asking all participants to please be there for the meeting or to contact us in case something comes up and they cannot attend.
