Pathways to Human Rights Education

Picture
From 5 till 12 July 2015, Don Bosco Youth-Net organised ‘Pathways to Human Rights Education’.  This activity is DBYN’s 4th Training of Trainers.  It aimed at training volunteers in how to lead intercultural learning activities for youth in the educational style of Don Bosco. The programme combined 3 modules of training.  The first module focused on developing your competences in training within an intercultural setting. The second module was self-directed learning.  As part of this module one of the trainers will be assigned to you as your personal mentor throughout the training course.  The last module was our spiritual programme.  We programme moments of reflection where you can make connections between what you are learning on the training course, and how this connects to your personal values and beliefs.

The training course allowed selected participants to access to DBYN’s pool of trainers.  They will be leading DBYN's future training courses and seminars.  The training course took place at Savio House in Bollington, UK.  It brought together 16 participants from 8 European countries.  These aspiring young trainers will be integrated in DBYN’s pool of trainers, and will be delivering training in different national and international settings in the near future.

‘Pathways to Human rights Education’ is part of the larger ‘En route: Don Bosco Volunteers for Human Rights’-project.  This project aims to merge DBYN’s educational approach with the methodology of Human Rights Education as promoted by the Council of Europe.

  2. To initiate the continued process of self-directed learning (through academia and reading around resources) and self-reflection as trainers.
  3. To create a strong learning environment where pax grow in confidence, learn from each other, build interpersonal networks and learn to use the existing framework of DBYN.
  4. To empower and support pax to get engaged in international activities and processes, in the framework of the DBYN.
