European School of animators

Project description

“European School of Animators” was a beginner’s level training course, aimed at young workers and animators. The training course took place in Rome, Italy from the 19th to the 25th March 2023. It  was a training course for youth workers organised by Don Bosco Youth-Net ivzw and supported by ‘Salesiani per il Sociale’, ‘Turismo Giovanile e Sociale’ and Erasmus+.

Its main goal was to improve competences, skills and capacities of volunteers who work with young people. It also sought to improve the organisation of the local entities. The project was developed for international animators and youth workers who wanted to be trained in an exchange on specific youth work topics in a Salesian context. The activity consisted of an intensive training course of 5 days: the participants had to collaborate in their local organisations and had to have a great interest in participating in the activity for implementing locally what is learned.

Objectives

The main aim of the activity was to make young animators familiar with the new options that the developing society brings for youth work. Change is the only constant we can count on. This will be the starting point of the project and through many different activities the participants will find ways to handle the changing reality.
  1. Introduction to the educational style and methods of Don Bosco
  2. Reflecting and reacting on changes within the reality of youth work
  3. Strengthen participants’ general skills within youth work
  4. Learning new techniques and exchange of good practices within youth work
  5. Intercultural exchange to give participants the chance to become more confident and open-minded in international environments
  6. Intercultural exchange to give participants the chance to learn new games and approaches for their local youth work organisations.
